The bill to increase the maximum fine for violations of the Medicines Act (Act) was declared controversial by the Lower House of Parliament on 11 April 2017. This means that the discussion of the bill will be stopped until a new cabinet has been formed. This is understandable, partly in view of the critical comments of the Council of State with regard to the very significant increase in the amount of the fine.
